Montevideo, Uruguay - March 14, 2008
Montevideo is the largest city, capital and chief port of Uruguay
Montevideo turned out to be
a much different kind of city
than Punta Del Este.  It is a
much older city and looks
more like an Italian city. We
had a bus tour around the
city followed by a wine
tasting at one of the local
vinyards.
Then we were treated to a Tango demonstration by a
couple that won some kind of national Tango contest.
They were very acrobatic and after they demonstrated
three dances they each slected people from the
audience to dance with them and it was very funny and
entertaining. I didn't get selected even tough I kept
raising my hand??
Our next stop was a vineyard where we
were given a tour, taught how to evaluate
wines and then tasted five of their wines
(luckily none of us had to drive back to
the ship!!).  They also fed us a
barbecued lunch with South American
favorites (some of them weren't our
favorites though)
We visited to Uruguay parliament building
which is rated fourth most beautiful in the
world.  It was quite interesting and reminded
us of the inside of some cathedrals we have
visited in Italy.
We took a bus tour around town and we took
lots of pictures. The architecture was very
interesting. Also, I forgot to include her
picture, but our guide was the same one
Samantha Brown used on her Latin
American sequence.
